You might think this is tomorrow’s technology, but it’s available today at Scottsdale CVT Surgeons. It’s called endoscopic — also known as minimally invasive – surgery. This method, performed with a fiber-optic videoscope and other small instruments, offers you many benefits over traditional surgery. Everything from a shorter hospital stay and reduced pain to a quicker recovery, fewer complications and less scarring. When appropriate, we perform endoscopic surgery for the following conditions:

• Chest mass • Lung disease
• Recurrent pneumothorax

We can perform advanced endoscopy for the following procedures:

Mediastinoscopy – A surgical procedure used to detect or stage lymphoma or lung cancer. Using a mediastinoscope (a narrow, hollow tube with an attached light), we can collect tissue for laboratory analysis.

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) – Has made life infinitely easier for thousands of patients with a collapsed lung, fluid on the lung or lesions on the lung. VATS involves small incisions instead of a very large one. VATS allows us to view the entire chest cavity through a lens and TV monitor, allowing more comprehensive diagnostic capabilities with less inconvenience to patients.
